Adam Hopkins travels to see the lives of the children who grew up in various branches of Wild household. Where essentially every adult is treated as a parents to everybody else’s children, enabling one child to have several mothers, despite only one birth mother. Hopkins couldn’t decide whether to be in front of the camera, or stick with voice of God narration, so he switches between both. It all leads to him becoming empathetic towards selected individuals, but remain distant and reserved to others in identical situations.

I think if had stuck with voice of God narration and remain emotionally detached from the subjects, then their stories would have been conveyed a lot stronger, enabling the audience to feel more sympathetic towards them. Instead, it leaves only feeling for one or two specific characters.
